What: Volunteer Appreciation Tea

When: June 20, 2024 - 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Where: Chaparral School – Gym

We will have student performances, delicious treats, special gifts and door prizes!  There will be a babysitting / play area available. We hope that you can join us so that we can show you how ama’zzzzzzz’ing you are and how much we appreciate you! All family and friends who have volunteered with us this year are invited to attend.

Pancake Breakfast & Activity Day

We are hosting a Pancake breakfast on Friday June 14 at 8:30 AM at the school.  It will be held at the back of the school and ALL students, including AM & PM Kindergarten are invited to attend. AM Kinder students are asked to have an adult with them for the entire time as it is technically not a day for them to attend.

All students are invited to have 1 adult from their family attend with them as well. This is intended to be an event for our school community.  It is being hosted by the Stampede Caravan breakfast team and they are supplying it all. A HUGE Thank You to the parents who have volunteered to serve the pancakes that day!

After breakfast, we will be going inside and getting set up for activity day. Our AM Kindergarten students are welcome to come back to the school at 10:00 AM and stay with us for the activity day until 12:00 PM when they can be picked up once again. Parents do not need to stay for this portion. Extra volunteers in Kindergarten would be greatly appreciated though.

Students Biking/Rollerblading/Scootering to School

Students who are choosing to come to school using their bikes, roller blades or scooters are reminded of the safety around this transportation.  All students using bikes, etc., to come to school are reminded to wear a helmet and have a lock for their equipment.  Roller blades needs to be removed at the door and we ask that scooters and bikes be walked along the sidewalk in from of the school as it is a busy place.

There have been a few near misses and we do not want any of our school community members; students, parents and staff alike, to be injured.

We love that students are getting your exercise this way, we just want everyone to be safe while ‘riding’ to school.

Lost & Found

The Lost & Found bins are VERY FULL.  As we get closer to the end of the year, we would like for these items to be returned to their rightful owners.  Please remind your children to check the Lost & Found daily to retrieve lost items. We will start to display them in the hallways in the last week of school. Anything left on Thursday June 27 will be bagged up and taken to donation.

Recess Snacks & Lunches

Many students are starting to request snacks at school. Although we do have some emergency snacks on hand, we are not always able to keep up with the demand.  Please remember to send a full lunch and a recess snack to school with your children each day.

If you are experiencing difficulty with having enough to send to school with your children, please let the school know and we will try to help if we can.

Spirit Day

Our next Spirit Day is this Thursday, June 13.  It will be Backwards/Opposite Day. Students are invited to wear their clothes backwards … we may even try to do some fun backwards kind of activities.

We will continue with the ranked favorites list as we begin again in September before setting our new list for next school year.

Weekly Mantra

I am unique. (SEL Competency: Self-Awareness, Social Awareness)

It’s ok if your ideas are different! New ideas and new ways of thinking create innovation and change. Don’t be afraid of what others would say. You are skilled, capable, and talented. You are a leader and you are enough. Leaning in can be uncomfortable, but don’t be afraid to own your ideas, lean back, and be yourself.
