Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year
Get ready for the new year with these key dates and times, school supply lists, and other information.
First Day of Classes
The first day of classes for Grades 1-6 is Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Teachers will meet students, parents/guardians and other caregivers outside at the designated spot that will be communicated in the days prior to school starting.
Following the first day of school, we will offer a soft morning entry as described below under the heading School Start and End Times.
Students are welcome to enter the building through whichever door they choose in the morning. The classroom teacher will communicate which door is the dismissal door at the end of the day.
Staggered Kindergarten Start:
AM Kindergarten will come for half of the morning each from either 8:45 AM - 10:00 AM or 10:15 AM - 11:30 AM.
The PM Kindergarten students will attend from either 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM or 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM. The time that your child will be attending will be communicated with you via email prior to the first day of school.
On Thursday, September 4, ALL Kindergarten students will attend for a portion of the day. The AM students will attend from 8:40 AM - 10:30 AM. The PM students will attend from 11:00 AM - 12:50 PM.
Please watch for an email from your Kindergarten teacher explaining the time that your child is to attend.
Assigned Teachers
Please check your email inbox in the afternoon of Thursday, August 28, 2025 for a message from your student's new teacher. In addition to introducing themselves to you, the teacher’s message will communicate other important information about their class/grade.
School Office Hours
Our school office will re-open on Wednesday, August 27 at 9:00 a.m. for new registration and queries.
From August 27 - August 29, 2025, our office hours will be 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Beginning September 2, our office hours are as follows:
- Monday - Thursday - 8:25 a.m. - 3:50 p.m.
- Friday - 8:25 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Lunch Supervision
Lunch supervision will be available on the first day of school. The lunch break runs from 12:22 -1:00 p.m. Students eat lunch in their classrooms. Please note that we are a nut aware school.

Fees will be charged to your MyCBE account beginning in October.
Transportation
Yellow School Bus Transportation
Transportation for students at Chaparral School is provided by Southland Transportation this year. You must register your child(ren) to ride the bus on your MyCBE account. Please see https://chaparral.cbe.ab.ca/busing for more information.
Parking
Please be respectful of our neighbours and refrain from blocking or parking in their driveways. We ask that families obey all traffic laws at all times. Please choose SAFETY over CONVIENENCE.

School Supplies
Most of the supplies required by students in K-6 are provided by the school. Students will need the following personal items:
- Healthy snack (Protein snacks help to regulate students for learning).
- Lunch (please remember to include utensils such as spoons and forks). For warm lunches, please prepare at home and use thermos, as we are unable to heat up student lunches.
- Small water bottle - (8 oz)
- Backpack
- Change of clothes (for younger students)
- Indoor shoes appropriate for Physical Education (i.e., running shoes that fit well and stay on the child’s feet).
- *Toys & Fidgets or other special items should be kept at home.
***Please label all belongings with first name and last initial.

Off-Site Activities
Keep updated on field-trips and other exciting off-site activities throughout the year. We're excited to expand on learning opportunities by stepping outside of the classroom.
