Weekly Update Dec. 18-22 | Food Drive, Lost & Found, Smart Technology, Adopt-a-Family, Fun Lunch, Spirit Days
Important Information
Winter Concert Congratulations
Congratulations to all our Kindergarten through Grade 3 classes on doing an amazing job of the Winter Concert. It is hard to believe that our youngest students have put on such an amazing show. It goes to prove that small children can do great things in the properly supported environment. Well done to all our performers, singers, and actors! We are proud of you all!
Mayor’s Food Drive
We are collecting non-perishable food items for the Mayor’s Food Drive. Students and families are invited to bring in canned or boxed food items and place them in one of the boxes in the front foyer. The food will be picked up closer to the holidays.
Lost & Found
Our Lost & Found Cabinets are overflowing! Please be sure to collect your child(ren)’s lost items during conferences. Any leftover clothing that is still not claimed by the Christmas break, will be donated. We sadly do not have room to store all of these lovely items.
Smart Technology
We would like to remind families and students that our Cell Phone Policy of “Away for the Day” includes all smart technology including Cell Phones, Smart watches and other devices that can be used for digital communication, recordings or taking of photos. We have had an increase of students using these devices inappropriately and would appreciate families having conversations to reinforce our digital citizenship policy that can be found on our website. Thank you in advance for your support.
From School Council
All communication with our School Council can be done via their email at: chaparralschoolcouncil@gmail.com
Adopt-a-Family
Our School Council is sponsoring some Christmas hampers to support families in need this Christmas. If you are able to help, please drop unwrapped items at the school by December 19. The link for the wish lists is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oTWfueOHt4FnGozIIKHbiVoBt9R2tJE4RXyTjQaSGvg/edit?usp=sharing
Next School Council Meeting
We did not get quorum at our special meeting on Dec 12 so we will be adding this to the next meeting. This meeting will be a hybrid of in-person and online to ensure quorum can be more easily reached.
The next meeting is on January 11, 2024, at 6:30pm in the Grade 5 classroom.
A link to join online will be provided closer to the date. We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to seeing you there.
Popcorn & Fun Lunch Days
Please visit www.healthyhunger.ca to make your selections and place your orders. Kindergarten students are invited to participate in popcorn days only as they are not at school for the lunch hour.
Our next Fun Lunch Day is January 11. It will be from Boston Pizza.
The next Popcorn Day is February 8.
