Class Photo Date Change

The date for our class photos has changed.  We will be doing our class photos on April 17 now instead of April 10.  Please make a note of this change in your calendars.

Partial Solar Eclipse

On Monday, we will experience a partial solar eclipse.  This is an exciting event, yet it can be very dangerous if viewed without the proper equipment.  As a result, we will be asking everyone to stay inside from 11:50am-1:50pm.  Lunch recess will be indoors.  We will ensure that students can a chance to go outside after the eclipse has passed.

Yearbook Cover Contest

Before Spring Break, we held a contest for students to create a cover for our yearbook this year.  There were some incredibly well done submissions and it was difficult to decide.

We would like to Congratulate the winners of this concert for this year.

  • Monroe H., in Grade 4, was the First place winner and her submission will be the front cover of the yearbook this year.
  • Jade E., in Grade 1, was the second place winner and her entry will be the back cover of the yearbook.

Congratulations to both of these students!  You did amazing work and we are proud to display it on the yearbook this year.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success.  Total sales were over $9000.00, bringing the school over $4300.00 in product and credits for more library resources for the school.  Thank you to everyone who purchased books during the book fair and for your contribution to its success.

Spirit Day

Our next Spirit Day is April 11.  It will be Stuffie & a Flashlight Day. Students are invited to bring a favourite stuffed animal and a flashlight.  Activities will be incorporated into the classroom learning.  Students are reminded that stuffed animals are a personal thing and should not be shared with others.  This will help keep everyone healthy.

Moving Forward, the Spirit Days for the rest of the year are:

  • May – Favorite Colour Day
  • June – Backward/Opposite Day

We will continue with the ranked favorites list as we begin again in September before setting our new list for next school year.

Weekly Mantra (Week of April 8-12)

I am Loyal. (SEL Competency: Relationship Skills)

Loyalty is important. It is needed to build strong relationships. It is a strong foundation for trust, honesty, and caring. Your loyalty, when it’s earned, is one of the most valuable things you can give someone. Loyalty takes teamwork, and it is a two-way street. You should give and expect loyalty in equal measure!
