Important Information

Our Beloved Mrs. Ewart is Retiring!!

It is with mixed emotions that we share with you that Mrs. Ewart (Edwina), our Admin Assistant and office go-to gal is retiring!  We are so happy that she is able to take the step on this new path in life.  We are also very sad to see her go.  More information will be shared closer to her last day at Chaparral School; however, we want to make sure that families know in advance as many of you have special connections with her.  Edwina’s last day of work will be October 10, 2025.

Cooler Weather

Now that the cooler weather is coming, we want to remind families that our students are outside for a portion of the day.  Recess and lunch recess happen every day and Phys Ed is outdoors on many days.  Although it is still warming up and students are able to be comfortable in the later part of the day wearing shorts and summery clothing, those classes who have morning Phys Ed are experiencing much cooler weather and students are feeling cold.

Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately to participate in all outdoor activities including early in the day.

Walking Field Trips

We often go on walking field trips throughout our beautiful community.  This means that classes are off school grounds and exploring more of what our community offers.  As such, those classes who do this investigation will send home notification that they are planning these walking trips.  Please watch your emails for that communication.  To learn more about these walking trips, please see the Walking Field Trip letter posted on our website at: Walking Field Trips Letter

Traffic Safety

Thank you for your continued diligence in parking and driving around the school.  Our students are so important to us, and it is all of our jobs to follow the traffic laws and keep them safe.  This includes parking, driving the speed limit, stopping for the patrols and using the crosswalks rather than jaywalking.

In addition to these basics, families are reminded that U-turns in the middle of the street are illegal and if done in front of a school it is a very heavy fine. Please be mindful of this before making those turns in front of the school.

Demographic Forms

There are 51 Student Demographic Verification forms needed to be completed.

The school’s funding is based on the completed forms, and we are at risk of not receiving funding for these 51 students. This will have a significant impact on the services and supplies that can be provided by the school.

The Student Demographic Forms is a requirement by the Ministry of Education and not by the school.

If you need to have a printed copy of your form, please contact Edwina at eoewart@cbe.ab.ca. to arrange this. Complete your forms in MyCBE.

Transportation Registration Confirmation & Cancellations

Families registered for yellow school bus transportation received confirmation emails on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025.

Registered families that have decided not to use bus service can cancel their registration in MyCBE with no financial impact by Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025. If you do not cancel by this deadline, fees will continue to be charged until a cancellation is received, regardless of actual usage. Retro-active fee refunds will not be provided.

Transportation fees will be loaded into MyCBE later in October.

2025-26 School Year Fees are:

  • Mandated Riders $360
  • Non-Mandated Riders $360
  • Kindergarten (1-way) $180

No action is required for registered families that will use bus service for the school year.

Lunches and Snacks

We have been fortunate enough to have the supports of Brown Bagging for Kids.  This means that students who require lunch supports are able to have some food.  It is important that those who are experiencing food insecurities be able to access this food.

If you are a family who needs this service, we ask that you contact Mrs. Robinson or Ms. Bratko to ensure your child is prioritized.  We will be letting families know if your child is accessing this service.  By contacting you, we only wish to inform you that your child may need more lunch or snack each day.

Backpacks

We still have some backpacks to give to those who need one.  If your child needs a backpack, please contact Mrs. Robinson or Ms. Bratko if your child could use one of them.  They are new and large enough for a library book.
