Please remember that this is the long weekend. School is closed on Monday, May 19 for the Victoria Day holiday. We look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday AM.
Volunteer Tea
This Thursday is our Volunteer Tea!
As Elvis says, "Thank you...Thank you very much!" The students and teachers want to thank you for all that you do for us throughout the school year! Chaparral Rock Star Volunteers are invited to our annual volunteer celebration! Please join us for some light refreshments, door prizes, songs and maybe even some dancing!
Chaparral Volunteers Rock is on May 22, 2025 from 1:45 - 2:45. (Doors open at 1:30). Please RSVP by May 20.
Freezie Fridays
We had our first Freezie Friday this past week. We will hold more of these days in the weeks to come. Please see the flyer that was sent home with your child or the posters that are in the windows of the doors at the school. Please note, there is a limit to 1 Freezie per student each week. This is sponsored by the Grade 6 Farewell Parent Committee. There will not be a Freezie Friday this week due to the Professional Learning Day on Friday.
Kindergarten Orientation
Kindergarten Orientation is on Thursday May 29 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. If you have registered a new student for Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year, you are invited to attend. If you have not yet registered or if you know someone who needs to register and hasn’t, please encourage them to do so ASAP. We don’t want to miss anyone. We look forward to meeting all of our new kinder students at this open house event.
From the Office
Lost & Found
With the warm weather comes the inevitable growth of the lost and found! Your children are choosing to shed their hoodies and jackets as they get too warm when on recess. All of these items eventually find their way to the Lost and Found cabinets.
Although we love to have a great space to collect these belongings, we are sad to see them so overflowing!
Please ensure you and your children are checking them regularly. If there is a specific item missing, please email your child’s teacher to get assistance in re-locating it again. We are always happy to re-unite the missing pieces with their owners.
From Our School Council
Our next School Council meeting is Thursday, June 12 at 6:30pm. Grade 2 will be presenting. The meeting will be held, in person, at the school.
Fun Lunch/Fun Snacks & Spirit Days
Our next Fun Lunch day is June 12. It is Taco Time.
Our next Spirit Day is Thursday, June 12. It is Tourist/Beach Day! Students are invited to dress up in their favourite summer wear … sorry no swim suits!! Don the shorts, tank tops, flip flops and zinc covered noses!! Bring on the Hawaiian patterns!!
Weekly Mantra
Don’t Be Fooled by Fear.
(SEL Competency – Self-Management & IELLF – Spirit Domain)
But know that every step moves you a little closer to where you want to go, if you have the courage to take it. It has a way of shrinking possibilities and diminishing dreams.
Month at a Glance
We have moved to a Month at a glance calendar rather than in the weekly updates. It will be provided at the beginning of the month each month and updates will be posted on our website as they occur.
In Recognition of the Multi-Cultural Calendar, we acknowledge the following Dates of Significance for May.
