Holiday Appreciation

I would like to share a heartfelt THANK YOU to our school community and School Council for the support we received in collecting items for our Christmas Hamper families.  Please see below an impact statement from one of the families, sent the evening after the hampers were distributed:

Now that the kids have gone to bed and the chaos of the day has ended and I have had a chance to look at everything, I am speechless with the generosity that our community has shown. My kids are going to have one of the best Christmas they have ever had. I simply cannot thank you and everyone involved enough.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can’t wait to see their faces Christmas morning.  You have made me excited for Christmas, you made me feel like everything is going to be ok. Thank you, it means more to me than I could ever express in words. ❤️ The little touches of having two of certain things for the boys - you have no idea how much that means! There won’t be fights Christmas morning! This was not just getting whatever gifts on a list, this was something that was done with love and thought and so much work and it shows. My family will remember this and cherish this kindness forever.

Additionally, we were able to fill 5 boxes of non-perishable food items for the veteran’s food bank and some items for the humane society.  Our collective work this Christmas is going to touch so many lives.

Thank you, Chaparral Community!  Your kindness and generosity are such beautiful things!

From the Office

Dress for the Weather and Fun in the Snow

The cold weather is here and so is the snow.  Students and families are reminded that we go outside everyday unless the temperatures are colder than -20 including the windchill.  Please be sure to come dressed to play outside every day.

Additionally, the snow brings many new opportunities to our playground.  Students are invited to build snow forts, snowmen, snow angels and other snow creations.  We ask that snow stays on the ground though and that we do not throw snowballs. Although it can be fun, many injuries occur at school from snowballs, so they are not allowed during our time at school.

We also ask that students respect other people’s creations and leave them intact.  We have had a few destroyed by others already and this causes conflict and heartbreak. Please build your own structures and let other stay in one piece.

Lost & Found

Our lost and found was laid out and teachers took their classes by to check them out.  Many students visited, looking for their lost pieces … still there was lots left at the end of the day.

All of the items have been packed up and sent to another school in the city where the population is much less fortunate than ours and has a high refugee population. They are very thankful to receive the lost and unclaimed items.

Please remember to label your child’s belongings with their names.  It makes it much easier to find the rightful owner to lost items this way and there is less of a chance of it being sent to donation that way.

From School Council

Our next meeting will be January 15, 2026, at 6:30pm – Kindergarten is presenting.

Fun Snack is on January 15.  It is A&W.

Our next Spirit Day will be on Thursday January 15.  We will have Anything But a Backpack Day on this day! Students and staff are encouraged to find a creative way to bring their items to school, using ANYTHING, but NOT a backpack!  Items should be small enough to easily work in a classroom setting.  The size of a backpack is perfect.  We look forward to seeing the creativity for this day!

Month at a Glance

We have a Month at a glance calendar that will be distributed at the beginning of each month. Updates will be posted on our website as they occur.

Please check our website for calendar updates. You can subscribe to it and the updates will go straight to your phone!!  You will always be in the know!

Families are reminded that our website should always be your first point of information updates as it is consistent for the whole school.
