Important Information
Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all of the parents who attended Parent Teacher conferences this past week. It was great to be able to share your child’s progress with you.
It has come to our attention that some families did not receive the information from the conference manager link. We have looked into it and cannot find a reason as to why it delivered to some and not others. We tried sending it 3 times.
If you are one of the families who did not receive the link and therefore missed speaking with your child’s teacher, please connect with them directly to arrange a time to meet or speak on the phone. Please accept our apologies for the technical piece of that.
Winter Family Night
Planning for our Family Winter Night is in process. December 11 is the day.
On Thursday December 11, we invite all of our families to join us for a family dance and some holiday activities. Our own Mr. Joseph will be DJ’ing the event, and we are hopeful that this will be a great way to bring our community together to mix and mingle before the holidays. There will be a few breakout stations also where holiday crafts can be created.
There will be some treats on sale and more information will follow on a message to be sent home with students.
We look forward to bringing in the holiday season with this evening event.
We are not handing out tickets to attend, instead we ask for a donation to the Veteran’s Food Drive or a toy for the Animal Shelter be brought as your family’s ticket in.
Holiday Support
This year, Chaparral School will be gathering items to support 2 important groups. This time of year, is hard for many and we would like to come together to help out where we can.
Since we missed the opportunity around Remembrance Day to help the Veteran’s, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Veteran’s Food bank. Also, we will be gathering pet toys for Animal Services. Animal Services is short on toys form pets as they get worn out often. A donation of a new toy for pets is appreciated. The have informed us that they are good for bedding at this time.
From the Office
Dress for the Weather and Fun in the Snow
The cold weather is here and so is the snow. Students and families are reminded that we go outside everyday unless the temperatures are colder than -20 including the windchill. Please be sure to come dressed to play outside every day.
Additionally, the snow brings many new opportunities to our playground. Students are invited to build snow forts, snowmen, snow angels and other snow creations. We ask that snow stays on the ground though and that we do not throw snowballs. Although it can be fun, many injuries occur at school from snowballs, so they are not allowed during our time at school.
We also ask that students respect other people’s creations and leave them intact. We have had a few destroyed by others already and this causes conflict and heartbreak. Please build your own structures and let other stay in one piece.
Lost & Found
The lost and found is growing!! With the addition on mitts and toques, it is getting quite full. Parents, please have your children check for lost items. You are also welcome to come in and see if there is anything in there belonging to your child. Any items left at the Winter Break will be donated as we do not have a way of storing them long-term.
Extended Vacations
If your family will be taking an extended vacation over the holiday season, please be sure to fill in the extended vacation form at the main office.
