Staffing Updates
We are so excited to welcome Ms. Bratko back to our school. We are so very grateful that Mrs. Wilson did such an amazing job in her absence, and I know she is looking forward to returning to her classroom and working with the Grade 6 students again.
We also thank Ms. Hornseth for her time at Chaparral and are grateful that she took such great care of the learning in Grade 6 while Mrs. Wilson was our Acting Assistant Principal.
On Tuesday, Miss Anderson will join our school in Grade 3 as Mrs. Ernst is on leave for the next few weeks. Mrs. Jackson, in the library, is also going on leave and we wish both of these staff members well as they look after themselves. We do not yet have a replacement for Mrs. Jackson and are hopeful to find a suitable replacement soon.
Spring Concert Information & Volunteers Needed
The planning and preparation is well underway. The Spring Concert will focus on our students in Grades 4 – 6 and will take place on May 1 and 2. Students with the last names starting with A-K are asked to attend the concert on May 1. Students with the last name starting with L-Z are asked to attend on May 2.
Mrs. Robertson is looking for volunteers who can help with the set props for the concert. If you are available to help with this, please sign up.
Mrs. Robertson will contact those who sign up with more details.
APEGA Science Night
On Thursday April 18, Chaparral School will host APEGA, for a Science Night with students and families. From 6-8pm, families are invited to come and participate in a number of Science related activities. Families with the last names A-L are asked to come from 6-7pm and those with last names from M-Z are invited to come from 7-8pm. We are excited to offer this free event to our families.
Spirit Day
Our next Spirit Day is May 9. It will be Favourite Colour Day. Students are invited to wear as many pieces of clothing in their favorite colour as they can or want to. It will be fun to see what colour shows the strongest presentation on this day.
Moving forward, the Spirit Days for the rest of the year are:
- May – Favorite Colour Day
- June – Backward/Opposite Day
We will continue with the ranked favorites list as we begin again in September before setting our new list for next school year.
