Recess Breaks & Equipment Sign-out
A group of Grade 5 and 6 leaders give all Chaparral students the opportunity to sign out equipment during the lunch recess break. Students can sign out equipment such as skipping ropes, basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, hula hoops, and paddles to play games such as Four Square (a competitive game at Chaparral School), soccer, kick-ball, wall ball, catch, ultimate frisbee, hopscotch, bucket ball, and more. Students are encouraged to play these non-contact sports while practicing good sportsmanship and enjoying time with friends. It is the responsibility of the students who sign out the equipment to make sure it is returned at the end of the recess.
Lunch-time Intramurals
Chaparral School offers many opportunities for students to take part in intramurals during the lunch break. Intramurals are usually divided by grade groups. Some of the activities for intramurals include:
- Badminton
- Basketball
- Floor Hockey
- Gaga Ball
- Just Dance
- Terry Fox Training
- Volleyball
- Track and Field
